Dr. Mahesh Kumar Mittal is a performance driven and a very sincere, empathetic professional with an extensive experience of nearly 37 years in the field of Radiology. He is an alumnus of the prestigious Dr S N Medical college, Jodhpur from where he passed his MBBS in 1979, MD Radio-Diagnosis in 1989. He has served in the Safdarjung Hospital and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, New Delhi for nearly 33 years rising to the rank of Professor of Radio-Diagnosis. He gained extensive experience in managing the Medical Undergraduate, Post Graduate and Paramedical Courses of the Medical Education.

He has been Thesis Guide and Co-guide of students for MD Radio diagnosis since 1996 and is on the Editorial Board of several Medical Journals.

He has more than 100 publications to his credit in various national and international journals and delivered guest lectures in various national and international conferences.

He is associated with National board of examinations in medical sciences, Delhi for last 20 years and during this period he has contributed immensely in its various programs and policies in the field of radiology. he had been convener of Radiology specialty board of NBEMS for many years. In recognition of his services, he was conferred Distinguished teacher award by National Board of Examinations at its Tridecennial Awards Ceremony.

He is a Life Member of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association, Delhi and was very active in its working. He rose to the post of secretary and president of association and organized many conferences and CME. In recognition of his services, he was conferred Distinguished Services award (2018), Academic Excellence award (2017) and President Appreciation award (2013) by IRIA. He is also life member of the Indian college of radiology and imaging and the Indian Society of Neuroradiology.

For his contribution in the field of Radiology he was awarded Sir J C Bose oration by Indian Radiological and Imaging association (2009) and Dr N G Gadekar memorial oration & Key Note address by Indian college of Radiology and Imaging (2016). He was also awarded Fellowship of Indian college of Radiology and Imaging (FICR) in 2010.

He completed WHO fellowship at AIIMS, New Delhi in 2002-03

He has been member of various committees of Ministry of Health and Family welfare, Government of India and has contributed for development of various national programs. He was also a member of Curriculum committee of MCI and contributed for development of radiology syllabus of MBBS.
