Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Subharti Medical College, one of the finest medical colleges of Northern India, is a constituent college of Swami Vivekanand Subharti University, Meerut. The College is located in a majestic building within the vast sprawling campus, furnished with the latest and best available audio-visual teaching aids such as OHP, LCD, visualizer, electronic teaching boards etc. provided in all the lecture theatres, departments and teaching points. The lectures are corroborated with a practical exercise, in each department having its own individual laboratory.
Presently, the college has 20 departments including Anatomy, Anesthesiology & Critical Care, Biochemistry, Community Medicine, Dermatology, STD & Leprosy, Forensic Medicine, General Surgery, Medicine, Microbiology, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedic Surgery, Otorhinolaryngology & Head & Neck Surgery, Pathology, Pediatrics, Pharmacology, Psychiatry, Pulmonary Medicine, Physiology, Radio-Diagnosis. In addition, we also have a Central Research Station with an advanced research facility, Medical Education Unit and Central and Department libraries. The college is also offering Super-specialties in Cardiology, Neurology, Neurosurgery and Plastic-surgery.
Our all departments are attached to a computer lab with CDs, internet facilities for the students for self-learning and surfing. Department libraries are stocked with the latest editions of books, publications and National and International Journals, on the subjects, in addition to the Central Library, where more than 50,000 books on different specialities are available.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Subharti Medical College has committed and distinguished faculties, which is a matter of immense pride for the college. The faculty members of the college, apart from teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students, are actively involved in research activities and have presented research papers at various National and International conferences in their respective specialities. They have a number of publications to their credit in national and international journals. Many of them have even authored books on their subjects. Various guest lectures, CMEs, Symposia and Seminars are being organized at regular intervals for faculty members and students to continuously upgrade their knowledge. The medical Education unit of the college regularly holds workshops to upgrade the teaching skills of the faculty members. The college has constituted various regulatory body and committees including Ethical committee, Pharmacovigilance Committee, College Council, Academic Council, Research Degree Committee, P.G. Committee, Anti-Ragging and Anti-Sexual Harassment Committee, etc. Institutional Ethical Committee (Registration No. ECR/256/Inst/UP/2013) is registered under the government of India, Rule 122DD of the Drug & Cosmetics Rules 1945.
The Mycobacteriology Laboratory in the department of Microbiology has received National Certification from the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme. The Subharti Medical College has been accredited by National Accreditation Board for Laboratories & the National Accreditation Board for Hospital for conducting various tests of Clinical Pathology, Hematology, Histopathology, Cytology, Serology, Microbiology, Immunology and Clinical Biochemistry, etc. The Subharti Medical College is participating in National Health Programmes such as National Blindness Control, Blood Safety, AIDS Control, Mental Health Programme, Dots programme, besides conducting Health and Blood Donation Camps.
Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Subharti Medical College has a dedicated teaching hospital named “Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospital”. It is a premier 938 bedded tertiary care teaching hospital of Northern India which provides immense training and planning opportunities and a platform for the students of medical and allied fields. The Hospital provides round the clock accident and trauma care. It also provides general quality specialist and super-speciality medical care at highly subsidized rates to one and all. Also, attached to this Hospital is a 150 bedded super speciality modern and popular hospital in the heart of Meerut city named ‘The Lok Priya Hospital’.
Chhatrapati Shivaji Subharti Hospital has 27 spacious wards, 13 major and 7 minor state of the art operation suites, a well-equipped Nursery Ward for premature babies, besides 7 distinct ICUs for critically ill: (Surgical, Burn Medical Cardiac, Pulmonary, Pediatric and Neonatal patients), and a 25 bed Accident & Trauma Unit. The ICUs are equipped with all modern, sophisticated, therapeutic and monitoring equipment like Ventilators, Bi-PAP, NIBP, Multi-parameters, Infusion Pumps, Phototherapy and Radiant Warmer units, Defibrillators etc. besides central gas and suction facilities with specially trained and qualified paramedical staff on duty round the clock.
