Teaching Learning Objectives

  1. To provide prompt & accurate diagnosis in various sections like Histopathology, Cytopathology, Clinical Pathology, Clinical chemistry and hematology.
  2. To teach and train medical undergraduates in theory and practical so that as future clinicians they make best use of this branch. To facilitate this there are all possible audio visual aids like CCTV, LCD projector, O.H.P., slide projector & computer etc.
  3. To train & guide post graduate students so that they may become pathologists of high standard who are to help the suffering patients through their precise diagnostic skills. They will also be trained to become good researchers & teachers.
  4. To promote research activitiesamongst faculty, Postgraduate and undergraduate students– To facilitate there are latest instruments & proper infrastructure with a well equipped departmental library having latest reference books, journal & internet connection.

  • Two well-equipped practical laboratory for UG students

Teaching Methodology –


Undergraduates

Theory :Didactic Lectures, , Tutorials, Group Discussions, Case based discussions, Integrated seminars,Audio Visual Aids, Student projects

Practical :  Demonstrations, Group discussions, OSPE, Audio Visual Aids, Specimens, slides, charts, models and instruments.

Evaluation and assessment is done periodically in form of planned and surprise class tests, tutorials, OSPE, viva-voce, six monthly terminal and university examination.


Postgraduates

Postings in different sections: Histopathology, Immunohistochemistry, Cytopathology, Hematology and Clinical Pathology Laboratory and Blood Bank on rotation basis. Additional postings in Anatomy, Microbiology, Biochemistry and central research station for molecular techniques.

Teaching methodology includes Subject Seminar, Gross seminar, Journal club, Slide Seminar, Case presentation,Clinico-pathological meets and clinical audit cum Death review.

Evaluation and assessment is done periodically in form of gross and slide tests, presentations in subject seminars, journal club and case presentations, viva-voce, six monthly terminal and university examination.

Thesis is an important component of postgraduate programme.

To facilitate better understanding and discussions with postgraduates, department has NIKON 10 headed microscope, dual head Olympus microscope with in-built camera and Motic Microscope with morphometric software.

Postgradutes are encouraged to present papers in conferences and other academic activities.
