• Dept. is controlling 20 operation theatres (Major – 13 & Minor – 07) including 03 emergency operation theatres (Gen. Surgery, Trauma & Orthopedics and Obstetric).


• All the major operation theatres are equipped with Modern Anaesthesia Work Stations with facilities of BIS Monitoring and Invasive Hemodynamic Monitoring.


• Dept. is provided with MRI Compatible Monitors and laryngoscopes to handle all age group patients in MRI suites.


• Dept. has facility to deal with all difficult airway situations. Intubating fiberoscope, Mac Coy, Howland Laryngoscopes, LMAs of all sizes, Combitubes, laryngeal tubes, trachlight, Percutaneous tracheosotomy set & Sonosite US Machine and C-Arm Image Inlinsifier are available.

• Specialty OPD : is conducted for all kinds of patients suffering from pain every day by pain specialist and treated in side operation theatre for Invasive and Ozone Therapy by using ozone generator machine.

• Various intensive care units (51 beds under control of Anaesthesiology & Critical Care Dept. are fully equipped with Modern Ventilators, BiPAP / CPAP Machines, Percutaneous tracheosotomy, advance hemodynamic monitors.


• CSSD it is provided with modern autoclave machine with micro processor control of temp. and pressures. Ethylene Oxide Sterilizers also available for select items like long catheters, ET Tubes, endoscopes etc. Facility for Bacterial spore sterilization monitor (Bacillus Stereo-thermopillus) is available to ensure better sterility standards for OT and hospital linen & equipment supplies Two separate TSSU are available with each floor OTs to cater for urgent needs and flush sterilization.

• Hospital Gas Pipeline Supply System : A dedicated hospital gas (O2, N2O, pressure, vacuum) with liquid oxygen plant with standby oxygen & N2O manifold for supply of gases is available 24 x 7.

• OTs are installed with Air curtains at entrance, OT fumigator, U.V. lights in each OT and well planned BMW management


• Biomedical engineer services are provided by management round the clock for preventive maintenance and routines repairs of electro medical equipment in OTs and ICUs.

Courses & Training

• Dept. is committed to undertake training of undergraduates, postgraduates, OT Technicians, B.Sc. Nursing, Paramedical staff etc.


• A great emphasis is given for training of medical students by imparting didactic lectures, Anaesthesia clinics, CPR training and introducing them pain and intensive care medicine as per university / MCI syllabus.


• Postgraduate (MD & DA) undergo rigorous training as per MCI syllabus and they are provided with “Protocol for Residents” on joining the Dept. Protocol covers all aspect of training, their conduct, emphasis of non technical skills development of correct attitude toward specialty. They are given emphasis on objective structured clinical, practical and problem solving abilities. They undergo formative assessment almost every two – three months and summative assessment (semester exam) as per university schedule.


• Dept. is provided three seminar / demo rooms with adequate teaching tools – OHP, LCD Projector, Patient simulation on Manikins and Audiovisual aids (CCTV Audio & Videos).

Courses & Training

• OT Technician courses of 02 year under U.P. State Medical Faculty, Lucknow are run by the department. Every year 15- 20 students are admitted and trained and issued certificates by the university after going through theory practical exam and securing prescribed standards and percentage of marks.


• B.Sc. Nursing students undergo 06 months training with Dept. of Anaesthesiology..
